What is self-awareness?

Sep 15, 2022

Do you want to be fulfilled, be a better decision maker, and be more successful? Then you need to educate yourself on self-awareness. Self-awareness is a skill of seeing yourself plainly and through contemplation and self-reflection. In other words, focusing on yourself, your thoughts, and learning about yourself rather than your surroundings is simply self-awareness. Self-awareness is also an essential tool for self-control. In this article, we will take a deep dive into understanding the importance of self-awareness and its benefits.

According to the Eurich group, when we understand ourselves better and focus on connecting with our inner self, we can clarify our beliefs, ideas, emotions, behaviours, strengths, and vulnerabilities. Their research concluded that self-aware people are happier in life, have better relationships, and they feel more fulfilled. But how can we be self-aware? It is not an easy task; you need to be dedicated. It requires your time and persistence. You need to connect with yourself on a daily basis and avoid distractions from the digital world and others’ opinions. You can also try to process your thoughts through writing.  In our previous article, we emphasize the benefits of writing. Writing helps you to connect your thoughts in a more practical way. Writing down your thoughts/ideas not only help you connect with your mind but also to understand the meaning of your thoughts. We go to schools, colleges, and universities and there’s one thing common among all these institutions is that they make you write. They could tell you the information verbally, but why they don’t do that? It’s because writing help you to understand better and help you to keep track of your performance. So, start writing your thoughts to be a better version of yourself.

You can also try other methods such as Yoga, feedback from others, and listening. People have been doing yoga for ages. In India, people started doing yoga to connect with God. And according to Hinduism, God is within us. So, to connect with God, you need to connect with yourself. Yoga also helps you to connect with your thoughts, and it makes you confident about yourself.  Feedback from others helps you to have a different perspective. It helps you to challenge your thought process to be a better you. And just like feedback, Listening helps you to observe and to learn from others and your surroundings. It’s an important factor that contributes to your journey to be self-aware.

To conclude everything, Self-awareness is a journey that leads you to a happy life and satisfaction. But it requires patience, persistence, and time. So, keep grinding! And reach out to us to learn more.
